Heels, beginners
Heels, Beginners | Tuesdays 13.1.–12.5. at 19:30-20:25
Have you wanted to learn how to dance in heels, but even just walking in high heels feels difficult? Welcome to the Heels beginners’ course! The course instructor is Emma Julkunen.
On this course, we start right from the very basics — walking exercises, simple movement sequences, and technique drills. During the course, we will also work on simple choreography and practice natural expression and stage presence. You do not need any prior dance experience to take part in the course.
You can participate in the beginners’ course wearing almost any type of high heels, as long as they feel good on your feet. Please remember to clean the soles of your shoes carefully if you have worn them outdoors.

Class Description
In Heels classes, dancing in high heels is practiced through various technique exercises and choreography.
At the beginning of the class, we warm up without shoes and do mobility exercises as well as exercises to strengthen the muscles of the legs and feet. After that, we practice walking in heels, weight transfers, correct body alignment, and turns while wearing heels. The classes also include practicing hair use and finding a natural movement quality while dancing. After the technique training, we work on choreography and practice expression and performance.
We recommend high heels with a thin sole and a narrow stiletto heel for heels classes. There’s no need to stress too much about the shoes! Especially for beginners’ classes, you can participate in almost any high heels, as long as they feel good on your feet. Please remember to clean the soles of your shoes carefully if you have worn them outdoors.

Beginners
At beginner-level classes, we start from the very basics, so you do not need any prior dance experience to take part in the course. Beginners’ classes are also a good option if you have had a very long break from dancing or if you have previously attended, for example, dance-based group fitness classes.
