Commercial dance, open level | three-session course on Thursdays 6.–20.8. at 18:30-19:25

Welcome to the open-level commercial dance course! In this course, we practice the dance technique needed for the style, and the choreographies combine elements from different dance genres in a visually striking, music-video-inspired way.

In classes, the focus is on body control, performance skills, learning choreography, and developing versatile movement quality. The choreographies vary from class to class in both style and tempo. The course gives you the opportunity to develop your own movement language and performance skills.

On open-level courses, the teacher takes dancers of different levels into account, for example by offering different options for the movements.

Class Description

In commercial dance classes, you dive into the world of music videos! As the name suggests, commercial is a commercial dance style that fuses different dance genres depending on the music. After the warm-up and technique section, the focus is on learning choreography and, through that, interpreting the music and developing confident performance skills.

We recommend wearing sneakers for commercial dance classes, but you can also participate barefoot.

Open Level

Open-level classes and courses are open to dancers of different levels. Please note: open level is not the same as beginner level. You can take open-level classes even if you do not have experience in that specific dance style, as long as you have some experience and skills in another dance genre. In open-level classes, the teacher takes dancers of different levels into account, for example by offering different options for the movements.

Jaana Pikaro

Jaana Pikaro is a dancer and a newly qualified dance teacher with over ten years of dance experience. She began her dance journey in competitive dance, but today her heart clearly belongs to hip hop and other street dance styles.

Jaana enjoys experimenting with new ideas, and in her classes you get to enjoy versatile and varied choreographies.
