Dance Video Project – Commercial with Effiina | intermediate / advanced | 8-week project on Tuesdays 25.8.–13.10. at 18:30–20:30 (2h)

Welcome to join a commercial dance video project! The project choreographer & instructor is Effiina Campomanes. During eight weeks, a commercial dance video piece will be created, which will be filmed at the final session of the project on 13.10.

This project focuses especially on the core elements of commercial dance, such as musical interpretation, expressiveness, different dance textures and movement qualities, and strengthening performance skills. Commercial is energetic and visually striking dance style, and the project rehearsals utilize the genre’s rich influences from, for example, street dance, hip hop, jazz, and show dance.

The project is intended for dancers who have been dancing regularly for several years and who enjoy performing and new challenges. You do not need previous experience in camera work to participate in the project.

Note! Only a limited number of dancers can participate in dance video projects, so please register early!

Class description

In commercial dance classes, you throw yourself into the world of music videos! Commercial is, as the name suggests, a commercial dance style that fuses different dance genres depending on the music. This energetic and versatile dance style combines influences from street dance, hip hop, jazz, and show dance, among others.

After the warm-up and a short technique section, the classes focus on striking choreographies, expressiveness, and performance. The training develops rhythm, movement language, stage charisma, and physical fitness.

Intermediate / advanced

Intermediate and advanced classes require a few years of active training and background in the specific dance style. You can also participate in intermediate-level classes if you have strong skills in another style. These classes progress faster and include more challenging movement sequences and techniques than, for example, open level classes. Therefore, it is important that the dancer has basic techniques under control when participating in intermediate classes.

Effiina Campomanes

Effiina Campomanes is the owner of Shenanigans Studio, a versatile and experienced dancer, an award-winning dance video producer, and a determined choreographer and teacher who always encourages dancers to boldly take on new challenges. In her energetic and physical choreographies, she always emphasizes movement versatility, striking visuality, and surprise elements. Graduating as a professional dancer from the Turku Conservatory in 2012, Effiina is a chameleon who challenges and breaks genre boundaries and seamlessly switches roles both in front of and behind the camera.
